Mathews County offers real property tax relief for the elderly, provided these citizens are able to meet the guidelines of Chapter 145, Article VII of the Code of Mathews County, Virginia. Depending upon income and assets, such citizen may qualify for up to $900 in exemption from their total annual real property tax bill. This tax relief phases out for those with total combined annual incomes exceeding $32,000.
